FAQ

Do you provide training?

Yes, we do! You will attend a two hour New Mentor training session, which will feature school rules and policies, safety issues, covering our materials provided in the Mentor Toolbook, and discussing situations and asking questions. You will meet other new mentors and learn why they have decided to become a mentor too!

How long will it take for me to become a mentor?

About two weeks:
1. Two days for background check
2. Set a date for New Mentor Training
3. Orientation with the School Mentor Coordinator
4. Student returns permission slip.
5. You get to meet!

This process can take as long as two weeks - sometimes more if the permission slip is not returned promptly. Please be patient - we'll get it signed and call you soon. However, if it has been longer than a month, please call our office so we can help facilitate the process. Call Mark Thompson  at 410-677-4536 or email him at mthompso@wcboe.org.
