Ben Brumbley was selected by the Maryland State Department of Education to be recognized as a semi-finalist for the Comcast Parent Involvement Matters Award (PIMA). This is the fourth year that this award has been given, and it is the only one of its kind in the nation.
Wicomico County's 2011 Comcast Parent Involvement Matters Award recipient, Ben Brumbley, was selected by MSDE from 13 parent nominees from our schools. He received his award at a gala reception held Friday May 20 at the North County High School (Ann Arundel County), Glen Burnie, MD. Not only was he a semi-finalist for the county but was one of five finalists for the Maryland Parent Involvement Matters Award honor.
A tireless advocate for all students, including his son, Mr. Brumbley has been active in Wicomico County Public Schools for more than ten years. He has served on numerous educational committees and currently is president of the Wicomico County Council of PTAs.
One of the nominators wrote: “Ben’s commitment to PTA is tireless and contagious. He designed a new PTA incentive program (Survivor) to increase PTA membership and organized the Legislative Night, which has been offered for the past three years so families can share their concerns and ideas with various legislators.”
The Board of Education applauds Ben Brumbley as a valuable member of the public school community and thanks him for his myriad efforts on behalf of Wicomico County students.
